    Hi Azhar,

    I am installing ASM as per above given vedio but when we metion “AZARDATA” at time of creting ASM it gives space not avilable
    Please let me know how to increse the space.

    i watched the video about ASM database using DBCA.The Steps you have described in the video are good for a person like me who is new to ASM concepts.
    Can please tell me on what OS you have installed oracle.
    second is it possible to install oracle 10g on oracle linux 5 or redhat linux 5.

    • I showed OS is OEL 5
      you can install oracle 10g on EL 5 ,Redhat 5.

        Sorry to distrub.I am trying to install oracle 10g on OEL 5 but when i try to install the software that i.e run ./runInstaller iam getting error saying this
        can tell me what went wrong with the installation please.

        Checking operating system version: must be redhat-3, SuSE-9, redhat-4, UnitedLinux-1.0, asianux-1 or asianux-2
        Passed

        All installer requirements met.

      • Before start the installation, do it this one, you should change redhat-4. because redhat-5 not support 10g
        cp /etc/redhat-release /etc/redhat-release.original

        echo “redhat-4″ > /etc/redhat-release

      • Hi Azar,
        I did that and started this installation.I followed this video of Kamranagayev.com.where he showed the step by step installation
        i followed the same,but in the end i am getting this error.I just asked him about the error and i am waiting for the reply.he told me that same just follow the steps.i just googled it regarding the error and i found there was missing RPM package libxp .but when i try to install the package i could not find it in the iso image files.

      • Sorry my previous answer is incorrect. Here this problem is requried rpm package not installed properly. please verify all your rpm package installed or not?
        rpm -qa libXp

    I just checked the rpm with this command.[root@oracle Server]# rpm -q libxp*
    package libxp* is not installed
    [root@oracle Server]# rpm -qa –queryformat “%{NAME}-%{VERSION}-%{RELEASE} (%{ARCH})\n”| grep libXp
    libXpm-3.5.5-3 (i386)
    libXpm-devel-3.5.5-3 (i386)
    libXpm-3.5.5-3 (x86_64)
    libXpm-devel-3.5.5-3 (x86_64)
    [root@oracle Server]# rpm -ivh libXpm-3.5.5-3
    error: open of libXpm-3.5.5-3 failed: No such file or directory
    [root@oracle Server]# rpm -ivh libXpm-3.5.5-3.x86_64.rpm
    error: open of libXpm-3.5.5-3.x86_64.rpm failed: No such file or directory.
    i got this rpm from OEL cd 2.
    can u please check this .
